April 2006: Hi - I just wanted to let you know Appleton and Shorewood Hills, Wisconsin have 100% smoke-free workplace ordinances. (bars and restaurants)
Appleton voters passed a referendum April 05 (56% percent support for smoke-free workplaces). Bar owners got signatures to put forth another referendum this April asking to exempt bars and restaraunts with bars among other things and the voters once again voted to keep all workplaces smoke-free this time 57% and a wider spread! We couldn't be happier!
July 2005: Madison: smoking was banned from restaurants, taverns, bowling alleys, sports arenas, and a significant part of hotels. Details here:

Dec. 2006 impressions from a resident: "The bars,
restaurants etc are more crowded than ever. Even on game days when there are
many tourists in town."

Bangkok Garden Restaurant

They have a lunch buffet M-F, 11-2 for $7.50. The entire dining area (separated from the bar in a completely different part of the building) is smokefree. Thai food can be very hot if you're not accustomed to it, but they know their customers here and the buffet - while deliciously spicy - is pretty mild. Right next door to the Neville Public Museum at the corner of Broadway and Dousman in downtown Green Bay.

El Sarape Restaurant
2030 E. Mason 920-468-8792
Green Bay has a number of authentic Mexican restaurants, each with a different style of home cooking. This is my favorite because you can get everything from burritos and tacos to more interesting fare like various house specialties. The entire restaurant is smokefree. They offer a nice little lunch combo for $4.99 M-F 11-2 which includes a basket of chips, rice, beans and your choice of 2: tacos, chimis, tamales or enchiladas. In a little triangular strip mall near the intersection of Mason & Main.
