Elderhostel
A non-profit organization offering educational and adventurous international group programs for people 55 years+. Programs range from short stays at museums to boat trips along the Nile. The physicality varies. Their web site's searchable catalogs include a number of programs in venues which prohibit smoking.

Exeter International Tours
Specializing in tours to Eastern Europe and Russia. They cannot control everything on these trips, but smoking is not allowed on their buses and cars, while on tour or at meals. In response to our inquiry, they made a courteous reply as follows:
"In all the venues that we control (private dinners, buses, etc.) we are non-smoking. We take this very seriously (90% of our clients are North American, 10% are South American) and our clients always appreciate this. In public restaurants, theaters, hotels we live by the rules of the establishments that we frequent. Generally smoking is allowed in certain areas and we avoid them. We only use Finnair and Austrian Airlines, which are both smoke-free." (Their choice of airlines may have changed since then, and more European airlines have gone smokefree.)

The Fun Ship Paradise
The Carnival cruise ship company has dedicated one ship of their fleet to nonsmoking customers *and crew*. They claim that even their construction crew weren't allowed to smoke. Be that as it may, they say the Paradise has been booked solid since its launch in 1998.

The floating hotels Hind and Hart run 34 different smokefree cruises each year on England's canals and rivers. Full board, private cabins from 70 pounds per person per day. The cruises are non smoking by default: people can smoke in the well deck only with permission of those present.

This site lists homes for exchange internationally. It permits a search for non smoking homes, and turns up a wide range of results. The site is membership based, so while the listings include a fair bit of information about the home and locale, to actually contact owners of homes in the database, you'll need to join up. It's $30 for one year.

Smithsonian Museum Cruises
European river cruises chartered by the Smithsonium Museums in the USA. They have one ship, Seine Princess, which is smokefree, except - sigh - on the sun deck.

Superior Inns of New Zealand
A booking site for elegant B&Bs and inns. Most are smokefree both inside and on the grounds. The owners of the web site are friendly and forthcoming about the matter. NZ legislation restricts smoking in many public facilities and the owners say that NZ inns are so predominantly smokefree, at least indoors, that it tends to be taken for granted. So, if you are interested in a particular inn & the smoking policy is not stated, ask them. Nice photos and lots of details.
