A listing of local smokefree dining and entertainment venues.
FRANKLIN
5 and Diner
1959 Mallory Lane (615)778-0065
The Diner is a flashback to the 50's with burgers, shakes, and 50's and 60's music on the jukebox. The prices are reasonable and the staff is very friendly. They also have a very reasonably priced menu for seniors (I think it's for 55 and over).

Korea House
1645 Downtown West Boulevard (865) 693-3615
Korean cuisine is interesting, very flavorful and and often
beautifully presented. It is deceptively like American food -
lots of meat, including barbeque, but then that squid
jumps up and grabs you by the throat... well, maybe not at
Korea House! Popular, vegetarian-friendly, with a
Sunday buffet for those who like to sneak up on their food
instead of having it sneak up on them, uh, be brought to the table.
Korean cuisine's own tearjerker: the
cabbage with chilis, which is the Korean counterpart to
Japanese wasabi or Jewish horseradish. Good for what ails ya.

The Peabody Hotel
149 Union Avenue between 2nd and 3rd Streets 1-800-PEABODY or 901-529-4000
This is the place with the famous parading ducks.
The following four restaurants are all at The Peabody and brought to us by
Fred, a frequent and eloquent contributor to SmokeFreeWorld:
"Eating in smoking sections of restaurants where no one was smoking was
great. We had a couple of good meals. We had a discussion with a waiter
about smoke. He related the story of when a smoker would not put out his
cigarette in his no smoking restaurant. The waiter informed him that
while he could not do anything about his smoking, if he did not put his
cigarette out the waiter would call security and have him forcibly
removed from the hotel. Security would then call the police and the
diner could then deal with them. We ate at other places than The Peabody, but it was the only place that had smoke-free restaurants."
--Chez Phillipe
A truly memorable meal. The food was great and the service was
impeccable. Before your main meal, order the soufflé for dessert. The
tuna was fantastic and the pork was very good. Most restaurants have at
least one dish that misses. Every dish at Chez Phillipe was memorable.
The prices are expensive, but worth it.
--Cafe Expresso
A great place to get a snack or lunch. A BLT usually has 3 or 4 regular
pieces of bacon. The BLT here had at least 12. The dessert was huge. It
was also was very good. In reflection, I would have had just a piece of
cake.
--The Skyway
We had Sunday brunch there. The service was very good, but I have to say
that the food wasn't great. The scrambled eggs were forgettable. The
sliced meat was very good. Seeing fresh caviar on a buffet is unusual.
This was good caviar and not supermarket variety. The Eggs Benedict were
conspicuous by their absence. Keep in mind that alcohol is not available
on Sunday before noon. It is not a Champagne brunch if you go before
then.
--Dux
The restaurant (but not the sports bar) is smokefree.
Another great trip report from Fred. He is serious about his food, so his reviews should be taken seriously, not just as a way to find smokefree dining, but for good meals!
