A listing of local smokefree dining and entertainment venues. The South Dakota Legislature has passed a law to make most indoor work places and public places smoke free. The law goes into effect July 1, 2002. Exempt: bars and casinos, hotels and homes (except if used for daycare!). This is a momentous achievement. Nothing happens all at once. We will be very interested to hear about venues which go smokefree voluntarily. They deserve our business! July update: "FYI: South Dakota's law has proven to be essentially meaningless. Many restaurants that didn't even serve liquor acquired a liquor license so they could still be "smoke-filled." Unless you are in Sioux Falls, the state's largest city, where the number of completely smoke-free restaurants probably is under ten, you cannot dine out except at Wendy's or McDonald's." KEYSTONE
