EUGENE
There are many smokefree eateries in Eugene, and nearby
Springfield, and drinkeries too. This being the northwest,
there are plenty of microbreweries.
Cafes are largely smokefree and vary interestingly in their offerings.
There are a number of smokefree barbeque places. This would be
hard to find on the east coast.
Bars are not necessarily smokefree and a number of eating establishments
have smoking 'sections' : these have not been (knowingly) included.
Listings are incomplete and omissions do not reflect opinions about
the quality of those left out. Your opinions are welcome.
Update July 2001:
Eugene now has a workplace smoking ban. This includes bars, restaurants and all types of venues. A handful of local establishments got extensions through 2001 to complete outdoor patio remodeling projects. Says a resident: "99% (or better) of the establishments in Eugene are now smoke free... Other places in Lane County (no smoking ban) such as in nearby Springfield are as smoky as ever..."
