BUFFALO
The Anchor Bar and Restaurant
1047 Main Street (716) 886-8920
While smoking is allowed at the bar, it's separated from the dining area by a wall, so little -- or no -- smoke gets through to spoil your enjoyment of the Italian-American dishes, hearty ribs, spicy "Buffalo [chicken] Wings" (said to have been first invented here back in 1964) or the marvelous jazz (weekends only). In my books, a spot with hot jazz, hot wings and clean air is worth noting. Has a well-supervised, enclosed parking lot in what otherwise appears to be a rather lonesome, unsavory part of town). The Anchor's Wing Sauce is available from several suppliers on the Internet.
thanks Peter Lebensold!

McDonald's Restaurant
134 East High Street tel (607) 936-2063
Family-friendly, American-style menu. Eat in or take out.
Part of the McDonald's
chain. The first company, we believe, to turn
burgers, fries and shakes into an international empire.
When they went smokefree in Corning, they were concerned
about losing customers. The opposite has proved to be true.
The owners also run McDonalds in Corning and Bath.
Thanks David Foster!

No Smoking No Bars List
Wendy Ballard has compiled a very helpful list of New York City restaurants
which are nonsmoking, chiefly because they do not have bars. She also has
written up a coherent description of smoking laws
in NYC. Her interests are broader than that, however: Wendy Ballard Dines Out,
and she has also put together a guide to restaurants in NYC which are
accessible to people in
wheelchairs, or for that matter, people pushing baby carriages.
She is also looking for places with braille menus, so if you
know about any, do let her know!
