An advocacy organization in Washington state to protect musicians from smoke. Musicians who are tired of the advertising-reinforced image that smoke somehow goes with the 'glamorous' life of a musician will appreciate this web page. It's tough enough for a musician to make a living. They have their own list of Puget Sound venues.

Potomac River Jazz Club
The Potomac River Jazz Club (USA) is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to preserve, encourage, and promote the playing and appreciation of traditional jazz. Located in the nation's capital, the club sponsors events year-round. All events are 100% smoke free. SLAM! Records donates part of their proceeds to organizations working against human rights abuses. See their site for upcoming shows. Founded by musician Leslie Nuchow, who turned down a deal with a record label - Woman Thing Music - when it turned out the backer was Virginia Slims. Not an easy thing for a struggling artist to do.
