Victor Wooten
Future Man! Great bass player. Plays with The Flecktones and other (jazz) groups. He prefers smokefree venues, so look out for his tours.

Music For Robin
Based in Lexington, Mass., USA, produces Celtic music concerts, all smoke free. Has put on shows in Lexington, Waltham, Cambridge and Arlington. See the web site for upcoming events.

Wild Buffalo
Bellingham, Washington (USA) music club. "Best in live music and dancing". Local and national acts, blues, R&B, funk, soul, worldbeat, folk rock, classic rock and roll, Celtic rock, and Latin Salsa. Great stage, sound system and dance floor. Pool table. No TV (!!). Check out their ongoing schedule at their web site.

Musicians Against Smoke Filled Atmospheres
An advocacy organization in Washington state to protect musicians from smoke. Musicians who are tired of the advertising-reinforced image that smoke somehow goes with the 'glamorous' life of a musician will appreciate this web page. It's tough enough for a musician to make a living. They have their own list of Puget Sound venues.

Boyz II Men
Interview with Boyz II Men about their stand on smoking. Their campaign, "Smoke-Free - It's the New Evolution" is featured on this site.

Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians
Edie recently asked the audience to not light up during her show at Joe's Sports Bar in Chicago. People were cool about it. Hurray Edie!

Elisa Welch
"Left Coast Neo-Celtic Folk" musician.
She likes nonsmoking venues and her gig announcements tell you in advance.

Jimmie Dale Gilmore
His guitar spews out Texas roots, rock, country, bluegrass, swing and honky tonk. He is too adventurous and experimental to be pigeonholed. Jimmie requests (and gets) smokefree shows.

Moana and the MoaHunters
Web page for Moana Maniapoto-Jackson, singer, performer, recording artist and spokesperson on Maori issues. Among other things, she has been National Maori Smokefree Co-Ordinator. Download a sound sample.

Potomac River Jazz Club
The Potomac River Jazz Club (USA) is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to preserve, encourage, and promote the playing and appreciation of traditional jazz. Located in the nation's capital, the club sponsors events year-round. All events are 100% smoke free. The club can be reached at www.prjc.org, where an extensive listing of smokefree jazz cruises, club dates and festivals is maintained.
The next event is a jazz jubilee benefit for Alzheimers on Sunday, March 4, featuring seven bands playing from noon to seven pm. See the details on the events page or visit the PRJC web site.

Slam! Records
SLAM! Records donates part of their proceeds to organizations working against human rights abuses. See their site for upcoming shows. Founded by musician Leslie Nuchow, who turned down a deal with a record label - Woman Thing Music - when it turned out the backer was Virginia Slims. Not an easy thing for a struggling artist to do.

Speakeasy
A list of blues venues in the Western United States. It is not a nonsmokers' list, but some of the venues are shown as nonsmoking.

The Turning Point
Music club in Piermont, NY, US, which features well known folk, jazz and R&B performers. Most of their shows are nonsmoking and they list these in their calendar:

Lungfish
Information about New Zealand bands, the xtrasmokefreerockquest festival, and the SmokeFree Fashion show. Fun to look at, tho' the graphics are slow.

Also please see individual club listings on city pages.

Musicians who have asked for non-smoking shows in the past:
Fiona Apple
Tracy Chapman
Rickie Lee Jones
Pat Metheny
Johnny Paycheck
Sunny Day Real Estate
