November 2002 Update: Smoking ban goes into effect 11/27/2002 and includes all public buildings and workplaces including bars, restaurants, and casinos.
Report from the field (April 2003):
"Most all places that I have witnessed are honoring the ban. We hear some flak in the local press, but most are arguing now about the amendment that failed to pass. It would have exempted certain places like casinos, etc. There are definitely those that have embraced it more readily than others. But, the only significant problems are with establishments that are "bars" or perhaps "taverns" that might serve food and alcohol, but would not be seriously considered for their food. Just local "watering holes". "
