D.C.'s smoking ban in the workplace (including restaurants) was extended to bars, bar areas of restaurants, and nightclubs as of January 2007.
Previous review: Here in the capital of the U.S. it's pretty smoky. Government buildings, theatres, schools, museums, train stations and the more expensive music venues are smokefree (as well as most classical music venues). It's hard to find a smokefree place to dance, drink, play pool or listen to live music. Restaurants are a better bet, although many restaurants allow smoking at the bar, with no real separation. If you know better, please send a review!
