PRAGUE

Note from helpful resident - a lot of the hotel restaurants in Prague have no-smoking *sections*.

Allegro Restaurant
Veleslavínova 2a/1098, Praha 1 (Old Town), 420 221 427 000 (2142-7000)
The lovely upscale (and pricey) restaurant of the Four Seasons Hotel, featuring delicious and beautifully prepared food in delightful surroundings with top-notch service.
Update 2006: Now 100% smoke free, breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's pricey, but for those looking for an upscale, smoke-free option, this is the place! For each guest, expect to pay about 2,000 Czk ($90 USD) for an appetizer, main course and one or two glasses of wine, gratuity not included (10-15%). Reserve in advance: there are two "tables for two" with a spectacular view of Prague Castle and Charles Bridge (illuminated at night).
Thanks Jim Vallance!

Restaurace Bílá Vrána

Bohemia Bagel
--Ujezd 16 (Prague 1, Mala Strana)     53-10-02
Sandwich shop with soups and salads, also open for breakfast, has a new internet cafe. Nonsmoking *section*.
--Masna 2 (Prague 1, Old Town) 2482-2560
Downtown location, not far from Staromestke Namesti), has a small children's play area and an internet cafe.
For the non-smoker, Bohemia Bagels' two locations offer an oasis in a smokey town. At the first location, smokers are relegated to the "back room" while the non-smoking customers enjoy a large front room with floor to ceiling windows looking out at the base of Petrin Hill. At the second location in Old Town, smokers are also confined to a smaller room. While this is more of a smoking "section" the atmosphere is still really good and it is conveniently located to Old Town Square. At both locations, you can count on great food, a multi-lingual staff, and non-smoker friendly environment.
    Neat web site.

Cafe Kaficko
Dum "U Zlateho Beranka" Misenska 10
118 00 Praha 1 Mala Strana
tel (+420) 724 151 795
Totally smokefree. Cafe Kaficko may well serve the best espresso drinks in Prague. They also offer teas, beer, and the usual soft drinks and mineral waters. Snacks available include bagels and desserts. It's a charming place with delightful owners--has only been open since spring 2004. It's located near the foot of the Charles Bridge. Wonderful place!
Thanks Lana Santoni!

Cafe Louvre
Narodni Trida 20, Prague 1 (New Town)  2493-0949/0912
Big cafe up several flights of stairs serving a range of foods, from soups and salads to meat and pasta. One room is designated as smoke-free, but the smoke from the rest of the restaurant tends to come into the room, so although you won't find someone smoking at the next table, for those who are seriously averse to smoke, this might prove annoying.

Cukrkavalimonada
Lazenska 7, Mala Strana Prague 1     +420(2) 57530628
Restaurant/cafe. This little smoke-free gem is a less than 5 minute walk from the Charles Bridge. It offers a few very well prepared specials that change daily as well as a standard menu of small sandwiches and crepes all at very reasonable prices. A full range of coffee drinks are available to compliment their fresh baked goodies as well. The atmosphere of this small, well decorated cafe is very pleasant and there is usually jazz playing in the background. While this is a smoke-free cafe, there is one drawback. I've been told that, on very rare occasions, the owner will make an exception to the non-smoking rule for close friends who smoke.

Ceska Kuchyne or Havelska Koruna
Havelska 23 (Praha 1)   tel 420(2) 2423 9331
If you want authentic Czech cuisine at unbelievably low prices in a totally smoke-free environment then this place is for you. Conveniently located in the center of Prague between Wenceslas Square and Old Town Square, Havelska Koruna's pleasant cafeteria style atmosphere provides a delicious variety of soups, salads, main courses, sides, desserts and beverages. Be forewarned, however, that very little English is spoken and the posted menu is only in Czech, so know your food vocabulary! It's open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. Just to give you an example, I had a very generous main course, a half litre of beer and dessert for 90CZK. That comes to $2.50! You just can't beat that. Enjoy!

A new Italian pizzeria-restaurant called "Gusto" which has a combination smokefree-childrens area, which is somewhat separated from smoking area. They have childrens programme of entertainment, etc on the weekend. They have great coffee and lots of veggie but not vegan pasta dishes. 3 min. walk down the hill from Metro Jiriho z Podebrad. The park "Riegrovy Sady" is 5 min. away and has a great view of the centre and Prague Castle.

Maly Buddha

Vietnamese restaurant featuring stir-fry meals, spring rolls, etc., and art gallery. For fans of Eastern cuisine, this is a MUST. One of the VERY best meals I had in Prague. Lovely, peaceful temple-like setting adds to the atmosphere. Staff are friendly and the food is unbeatable. Do not miss the vegetarian spring rolls! A peaceful respite.
thanks Susan Thompson and more detail from another customer!

Rincon Latino

They are near the Andel Metro station, in the same building as the Smichov shopping mall, just around the corner from KFC; there is a prominent red neon sign "CHINESE RESTAURANT" over the door, as the entrance is shared with that venue. Keep going straight on.
They are open daily (except Sundays) from 9pm till around 1am on weekdays, all night on Saturdays. (They typically have salsa classes from 6pm till 9pm).
Non-smoking inside (around the dance floor and the bar).
There is a small smoking area with a bench and a table, just outside the door that leads to the dance floor.
thanks to Milan

Ungelt Jazz n' Blues Club
Tyn2/640, 110 00 Praha 1 (Prague 1) Tel +420 224 895 748
A few steps from the Old Town Square
Music venue. Separate smoke-free bar, with free entry. Turn to your right immediately before you reach the person at the table selling tickets, and you enter the smoke-free bar where you can hear, but not see, the music.
You get the odd whiff of smoke from the smokers outside the bar at the interval.
It is hard to find smokefree entertainment in Prague.
Live music every night, starting at 9pm. Doors open at 8pm. Beer prices reasonable for the centre of Prague (i.e. very cheap). If the music makes you want to see the band, you can always pay to get in at any time; but it will be smoky in there.
Thanks to Danny

Wolfgang Inn
Uhelny Trh 1, Prague 1 (Old Town)   2423-2772-3
