A fairly moderately priced hotel, near the residential and diplomatic sectors, airport, and the pyramids at Giza.
Note: Not totally smokefree. Hard to find in Egypt! 40 rooms are for nonsmokers. The restaurant, pool, etc. are not smokefree.
However, this is the first high-quality but not hugely expensive hotel SmokeFreeWorld has found in Egypt, which pays any attention to nonsmokers. An ordinary American family
could afford this place, not just people traveling on company accounts. Also, the so-called world class hotels are not totally smokefree either.
IRAN
Restaurants and bars are supposed to be smokefree. Status unknown.
ISRAEL
In principle eating "sections" of restaurants are supposed to be smokefree.
But it's not so easy to find.

Private hotel/villa. "We spent a week in a beautiful, very delightful private villa-hotel on the Atlantic Ocean some 20 min driving from the centre of Cape Town. It is all in the 20s/30s, with rugs and paintings...They charge only about USD 400 for sleeping 10! They enforce strict non-smoking. ...The owner calls himself "newly born breather" ...I know it sounds corny, but we really found it very much like our home. Especially because they just check out, and so there's a choice of CDs, books, open fires all over ... Unlike most of these places where you are sort of forced to have breakfast between 7 and 9, here we all made our own, as every room has its own kitchenette, any time of the day. It is not very wheel-chair friendly, because of the sloping gardens, but the sea and mountain views are absolutely breath-taking (pun intended)...Although we have travelled all our lives, and stayed in the most expensive hotels around the world, from the Waldorf to The UAE, this little hideaway villa tops them all and is definitely worth mentioning."

Very attractive layout in a deservedly crowded coffee shop.
Luscious cakes and pies. Saw families
(parents, kids) cheerfully chomping away. People who work in the
shopping mall go there for their coffee breaks, which tells you something.
There are two separate seating arrangements, one for smoking and one for
nonsmoking. As you stand inside the mall and face the shop, which has open
frontage, each table in the section on the right has a card with the
internationally known logo for no smoking. The tables have ash trays, but
they are used solely to stash ripped-up sugar packets and other paper debris.
On the left half of the shop are the smoking tables, which extend out into
the shopping mall. I stood in the no-smoking section and could not smell
anything from the smoking side where plenty of customers were smoking, so
would have found it very comfortable to eat and drink there. Others, however,
have been able to smell the smoke. I guess the air was moving just right the
day I was there. Realize this is not the totally smoke-free environment you
usually report, but believe the owners deserve credit for taking a pioneering
step and offering at least a partial safe haven for people who don't want to
smell and breath smoke while they eat some darn good food.
